The name Standing Flowers was originally a name for a form of Japanese Ikebana which is demonstrated in the way flowers and other plants can be arranged to complete each of our vases. Yet, more than a mere allusion to Ikebana, the name Standing Flowers draws on each vase as a unique and elegant creation that stands bold and alone like a single flower. Some shapes and engravings we design for different vases are inspired by organic qualities and patterns found in nature. Others are a means to overcome rigid forms and recreate new ones that uncover the creative potential of upcycled glassware. Each Standing Flower is a one off creation crafted in conjunction with Collaboration Partner Tara Gillespie.
