Terrain is the great equalizer in Legion, and Range Troopers are the Imperial answer to it. Heavy gear and magnetized boots mean broken ground slows them far less than it slows everyone else, so they reach parts of the board other Imperial infantry would still be crawling toward two turns later. That one quality should change how you play them. Do not line them up with the rest of the army and advance in step. Send them through the ruins, over the rubble, into the flank your opponent left open because they assumed nobody could get there in time. With E-10R blaster rifles and a heavy weapon trooper in the squad, seven models arriving somewhere unexpected is a real problem to solve.Their limit is that mobility is not durability. Arriving quickly still leaves them out there, often alone, so pick a target worth taking and send support if you can spare it.Pair them with: Stormtroopers holding the center while the Range Troopers work the edges An AT-ST Walker or E-Web Heavy Blaster Team pinning your opponent in place The Outer Rim Battles Terrain Pack, because a bare table wastes their best quality Seven Range Trooper miniatures and bases, a unit card, six upgrade cards, a punch sheet and an insert sheet. Six upgrade cards is a lot of scope for specializing one squad, which makes them a satisfying unit to keep tinkering with.
