This is the new addition to Starward's Core Range of whiskies. Fortis, Latin for "Strong" is 100% matured in American oak red wine barrels from the Barossa Valley wineries. About a third of the barrels were fresh barrels, and the remainder were re-charred barrels. Tasting notes: On the nose, vanilla, custard, red berries, spices, blackberry jam and varnish. Palate is jammy, rich, mouth-coating, vanilla, Christmas cake, blackforest cake, dark chocolate. It's like a cross between a bourbon cask matured Starward (that we love btw) and their Signature Nova. Good choice of strength at 50%, Medium sweetness and length. Amazing value. Show more
