Description Course Title: Ship Security training for crew without Designated Security Duties (STCW A-VI/6-1) Training Course Duration: 70 Minutes + Onboard Exercises & Checklist Access Period: 365 Days This eLearning course is the first of two stages to achieve the STCW certificate. A signed agreement is required by the shipowner before the on board exercises can take place. The second stage is carried out on-board the vessel and requires an Evaluator and the completion of exercises and a checklist. An Evaluator can be the vessel Captain, a qualified Assessor, the Master / OIM, or Ship Security Officer. DOWNLOAD CHECKLIST Once the checklist is signed and completed it is emailed with the supporting documentation to [email protected] for review. The STCW certificate is awarded by Mintra on approval of the checklist and completion of the eLearning course with a 70% pass mark. DOWNLOAD AGREEMENT To carry out the on board training, the shipowner is required to first sign an agreement for decentralized training with Mintra. This is emailed to [email protected] to confirm the training program. Who is this course for:Every seafarer without designated security duties (STCW Table A-VI/6-1) Is previous experience required?You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role How will this course benefit me?Piracy and armed robbery is a real threat to seafarer’s onboard ships and mobile units at sea. 1st January 2014 a requirement about seafarer’s security training was put in force for all ships to which the ISPS Code applies. The training consists of an e-learning course and the performance of certain on board activities described in a checklist. The client’s approved instructors must sign completed checklists for each trainee. When the training is completed a certificate is issued by the Norwegian Maritime Authority. What standards are referred to in this course?STCW - Security Awareness, table A-VI/6-1This training program in Ship Security Awareness has been approved by the Norwegian Maritime Authority. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%. Learning Objectives • Describe global threats at sea• Describe the International maritime security policies, such as the ISM code and STCW• Describe the different security measures and procedures normally used aboard• Be familiar with the different Security threats• Describe which preventive measures we can use to prevent an attack• Be familiar with the procedures and what to do after an attack Assessment Online assessment at the end of the eLearning with an 80% pass mark followed by the completion of on board exercises and checklist.
