Mechanically it is the same design as the rest of the line, the world's first string-locking tailpiece, built on the same billet 6061 bar as the Standard and plated in genuine 24K gold. This is the same gold used in fine jewelry, not a gold-toned coating or anodize, so the added cost is the metal itself and not markup. If the rest of your hardware is gold, this is the bar meant to sit alongside it. Like every Steadfast bar, it changes how the guitar is strung. The ball end anchors up at the tuning post and the string locks at the tailpiece, which takes the winding out of a restring and drops the time it takes by up to 75%. With the string held at the bar rather than coiled around the post, tuning settles quickly and holds through bends and hard playing. The Custom is a direct drop-in on two-stud, top-mount guitars, with no routing or modification. One note on price: with precious-metal costs climbing, real 24K gold is not cheap, and we will not switch to an imitation finish to hit a lower number. Underneath it is the identical bar as our Standard, so what you are paying for above that price is the gold itself.
