Prunus avium 'Stella' Stella is a black, firm, juicy, heart-shaped cherry from Canada. Because Stella is self-fertile, it makes an ideal selection for a backyard grower without spa ce for two sweet cherry trees. The tree is productive and the fruit is of excellent quality. Stella is moderately resistant to bacterial canker. Chill hours are hard to confirm - some resources say as low as 400 hours below 45F to successfully produce fruit, and others say 700-800.
