Originally released in 1973, Naosuke Miyamoto Sextet’s Step! is a standout modal jazz record. Led by bassist Naosuke Miyamoto, with Masayoshi Yoneda on piano and Takashi Goto on sa xophone, the album features a powerful spiritual Japanese jazz moment on “One For Trane.” The lineup also includes Kunji Shigi on trumpet, alongside drummers Takashi Furuya and Shoji Nakayama.
