ong the ancient paths near Steyning, this broken ring holds the feel of riverbeds and old shorelines. The stones are left largely raw; fragments of inland sea-glass remain clear—deliberately untouched—while an azure resin pool binds the arc and casts a cool, water-like light across the piece. It reads less as ornament than as a small survivor of ritual, a marker of layered time. Stone map• Granite — pink-flecked, crystalline pieces; mountain-born endurance.• Jasper / iron-rich chert — russet and ochre fragments with warm earth tones.• Quartzite / cream flint — pale, river-rounded pebbles recalling long transport by water.• Greenstone / slate — blue-green, fissile plates suggesting altered seabed rocks.• Mixed river pebbles — smoothed neutrals tying the arc together.• Inland sea-glass — translucent greens kept uncoloured, a glint of a lost tide.• Azure resin matrix — the binding, water-evoking field that stabilises the ring and deepens the hue. © Stephanie Fuller (Burns)
