Chain tensioning is achieved on the STIHL MS271 by loosening two nuts (combination tool provided) and using the side chain tensioner which keeps your hands away from the chain whilst turning the adjuster. The STIHL MS271 is available with a 16” (40cm) or 18” (45cm) guide bar. Please note, cutting length will always be a little shorter than the bar length because of the way guide bars are measured. The difference between the guide bar length and cutting length varies by chainsaw model.
