The STIHL ROLLOMATIC® ES Light guide bar has up to 30% less weight in comparison with STIHL ROLLOMATIC® E Super guide bars. In order to reduce weight; long channels are milled out of the center of a solid guide bar, then a thin steel plate of the same steel is welded over the channels using a special laser welding process. The reduced weight helps decrease operator fatigue, especially on longer bars. A replaceable sprocket nose assembly is also incorporated in the nose of the bar that carries the saw chain from the top to the bottom of the bar. This not only reduces wear, but also enables the bar nose to be made considerably narrower.
