Inspiration In 2011, Bastrop, Texas experienced the Bastrop County Complex fire which destroyed over 1600 structures and over 32,000 acres. The area continues to struggle but is healing. This image highlights the landscape which was barren in so many locations after the fire. Many of the trees that managed to survive the fire were still scarred and were few and far between. The orangey-red captures the hills of hematite-rich soil in the area.
