Randall Kaufmann introduced the orange stimulator in 1982 to simulate salmon flies. It also makes an excellent hopper imitation. Kaufmann finds that the pattern is often overdresse d by most tiers. He recommends a hair wing and tail that is sparse yet flared to achieve the appearance of bulk. This will help to stabilize the fly on the waters surface.
