ConvaTec Stomahesive® Wafers are multi-purpose hydrocolloid skin barriers designed to protect the skin around a stoma and assist with the management of difficult or irregular peristomal areas. The wafer provides a protective layer between the skin and the ostomy appliance and can be cut to the required shape and opening, making it particularly useful where the skin surface is uneven, scarred or otherwise difficult to manage with a standard appliance alone. Stomahesive® Technology combines three naturally derived hydrocolloids to provide secure adhesion and skin-friendly protection while remaining gentle on removal. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly. Measure the stoma and determine the area requiring protection. Mark the required opening on the Stomahesive® Wafer. Carefully cut the wafer to the appropriate shape and stoma opening. Remove the protective backing and apply the wafer smoothly to the skin. Press gently around the entire wafer to establish good contact with the skin and smooth out any wrinkles. Apply the compatible ostomy pouch or baseplate over the Stomahesive® Wafer according to the appliance manufacturer's instructions. At each appliance change, gently remove the wafer and reassess the surrounding skin.
