It’s believed that the stork design had its origins in the decoration of umbilical clamps modelled thus after the mythological feathered midwife. From small workshops in the town of Nogent in the Haute-Marne region of France — a place known for its cutlery and scissor manufacturing since the early 14th century. 9cm in length — making these useful for both embroidery and other small and detailed cutting jobs in the workshop.
