100% pinot noir from Westcott's home site on the caprock plateau above the southern shores of Lake Ontario. Tank fermented and aged for 20 months in barrels and tonneau. Indigenous yeasts, low sulfur, unfined, unfiltered. This brooding pinot shows the more muscular side of one Ontario's signature grapes, yet maintains a finessed, ethereal style. Dark cherries, menthol and floral notes combine with grippy tannins and excellent length. "Very pale ruby with a slight haze, this naturally styled, low-intervention pinot carries aromas of cranberry and raspberry layered with cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and a touch of rotundone. Light and airy on the palate, but sharpened by a spicy edge that demands attention. A unique and expressive wine with finesse and personality. Tasted blind at the NWACs 2025. 90 pts."
