Premium Intermediate 4/4 Violin, Stradivarius c 1715. This violin was made by one luthier from beginning to end from wood aged and air dried (not kiln) more than 12 years. It is being sold to finance my daughter's ongoing violin/viola studies and tours. This violin would be a great transition (and a big step up) for someone playing a rental instrument or even a high end student model. Price is firm. I will only accept cash. The spruce top is medium fine grained and very beautiful; the maple back is exceptional two piece horizontal medium striation continuing through the ribs. It is finished with a reddish brown Italian oil varnish that gives the grain of the wood a soft satin luster and allows the wood to breathe. The fittings (tuning pegs, chin rest, tailpiece, and button) are of boxwood with ornamentation. It has been stored in a humidified case and is in "like new" condition. It has been fitted with new Dominant strings (G through A) and a Pirastro Gold Series loop end E string. I would describe its tone as "balanced throughout" with "exceptional projection and volume". It has also been set with Wittner hill style fine tuner on the E string. This allows the E string to have its full after-string length to the tail piece and enhances its vibrational quality. The nut, bridge and sound post were recently adjusted by a local luthier that I trust. It is ready to play. I am offering it with a student style case, backup strings, rosin, and a nice quality Brazilwood bow.
