Right. This one’s for the Stranger Things fans. You know who you are. You’ve watched every season at least twice. You know the difference between the Mind Flayer and the Demogorgon. You definitely have a favourite character (mine’s Steve – his hair is amazing). And you’ve definitely wondered what an Upside Down cake would taste like. Well, wonder no more. Someone asked me a while back: “can you make a Stranger Things cake for my son’s 13th birthday? He wants the Upside Down, a Demogorgon, and maybe some Christmas lights.” I said yeah, course. I made a chocolate cake (dark, like the Upside Down), covered it in black buttercream, added a cracked “portal” effect, and put little fondant Christmas lights round the edge. Then I added a tiny Demogorgon face. He screamed “THIS IS SO COOL” and didn’t want to eat it for an hour. That’s a win. So here it is: Stranger Things Theme Celebration Cake – available at our Bromley bakery. It’s a round cake, about 7 inches. Feeds 6–10 people. Perfect for a Stranger Things themed party, 80s nostalgia bash, Halloween, or any fan who wants to celebrate with something a little… strange. What’s in it? Sponge – dark chocolate or red velvet (looks like the Upside Down’s red vines). Your choice. Dark chocolate is very “nightmare” vibes. Frosting – black or dark grey buttercream. Smooth, dramatic, like the shadows of Hawkins. The Upside Down effect – I can do a cracked “portal” effect on top, with black and red icing swirling together. Or a “fissure” down the middle. The details – little Christmas lights (coloured fondant) round the edge, a tiny Demogorgon face (fondant) peeking out, or the Stranger Things logo piped in red. The 80s touch – you can add a little “1985” or “Hawkins” on the side, or a few arcade‑style stars. It’s the cake that makes everyone say “that’s so cool” before they even taste it. And then they taste it, and it’s delicious. Not weird. Promise. Who buys this? Stranger Things birthday cake – for teens and adults who love the show. 80s themed party – the show is set in the 80s, so it works for retro parties too. Halloween cake – the Upside Down is perfect for spooky season. Season premiere party – when a new season drops, this is the cake. Just because – you want a cake that’s a little strange. Honestly? Anyone who’s ever said “friends don’t lie.” Can I get a different character on top? I can do a tiny Dustin, Eleven, or Steve (fondant). They won’t look perfect, but you’ll know who they are. Or just the Demogorgon – that’s easier. Can I add a message or name? Course. “Happy Birthday Mike”, “Friends Don’t Lie”, “Welcome to Hawkins” – I’ll pipe it in red or white. How much notice? Few days if you want simple. Week if you want the Demogorgon and lights looking proper. Order online or message me – I’ll be honest. Collection or delivery? Collect from our Bromley shop or local delivery if you're nearby. One thing to mention… The black buttercream might stain your tongue a tiny bit – it’s worth it. The fondant lights are edible but a bit hard – kids might want to keep them. Also, no actual upside down cake – this is not a pineapple upside down cake. Different thing. Right. That’s the Stranger Things one done. For the fans who know that the Upside Down is scary, but cake is not. And that friends do lie about saving you the last slice.
