Bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, cranberry, black cherries, and bramble, it’s both refreshing and satisfying, with a subtle hint of allspice and a touch of barnyard brett that adds a bit of funk. This non-vintage blend of Alibernet and Dunaj highlights the distinctive qualities of two cold-hardy Eastern European varieties. The Portugieser is foot-crushed, while the remaining grapes are de-stemmed before undergoing spontaneous fermentation in open vats. The wine is then aged in a combination of Zemplén oak barrels and a large Austrian oak cask before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without any added SO2.
