Long, elegant leaves emerge patterned in creamy white to silver with intricate green speckling, mottling, and irregular brushstrokes. No two leaves are quite alike, and heavily variegated specimens can develop remarkably pale foliage while retaining delicate flecks and islands of green. The reverse of each leaf is a rich burgundy-red, creating dramatic contrast against the almost white upper surface. When illuminated from behind, this deep coloration can glow through the pale portions of the leaf, adding another dimension to an already unusual plant. While ‘Triostar’ has become a familiar houseplant, ‘Multicolor’ remains considerably harder to find in cultivation, making it an exciting addition for collectors of unusual Marantaceae and variegated foliage.
