Stromatolite fossils from Ksar-es Souk, Morocco.The stromatolite is preserved in beautiful red sandstone from the Kem Kem region and dates from the Cretaceous Period, approximately 100-145 million years old. Stromatolites are microbial fossils known to be one of Earth's earliest records of life and were crucial in creating Earth's current oxygen atmosphere.
