REMIX PLASTICS HUIA FEATHER EARRINGS RP001 Earrings inspired by the beautiful New Zealand native bird — the Huia — famously worn by our own PM Dame Jacinda Ardern. The Huia, with its striking white-tipped tail feathers, was once a treasured taonga. In pre-European times, these feathers were worn only by high-ranking chiefs and their whānau. By the early 1900s, Huia numbers were in decline due to habitat loss, but an international fashion craze accelerated their extinction after a feather was gifted to the Duke of York in 1901. These earrings, crafted from recycled plastic, are a meaningful reminder of the impact that fashion and consumption choices can have on our environment.
