Designed in 1923 by then-Captain Ernest J. King — who went on to become Fleet Admiral and Chief of Naval Operations during WWII — the submarine "dolphins" are the Navy's oldest war fare insignia. One detail surprises most people: the dolphins depicted aren't the marine mammal at all, but dolphinfish (mahi-mahi). Submariners who earn the badge call themselves "Brothers of the 'Phin."Cut from durable outdoor vinyl, with color and size options. White and lighter colors show best on tinted rear windows.
