Living in Vermont for 25 years, I've become a fan of the classic sugar shack scene—that perfect moment when spring temps hit but there's still snow on the ground and the maple sap starts flowing. On the weekends I'm always drowning my morning pancakes in Vermont's liquid gold. Maple syrup is literally part of our soul here! I wanted to capture that quintessential Vermont winter scene, ice fishing, cross-country skiing, kids sledding, all centered around a red sugar shack with steam billowing out as they boil down the sap to make syrup. Enter Ryan Duggan.. This dude's been perfecting his vintage illustration style for nearly two decades, becoming legendary for his hilarious "Treasury of Shitting Dogs" series—beautiful scenes with dogs taking dumps hidden throughout. It never gets old! I shared with Ryan vintage maple syrup cans as inspiration. He then created winter scenes arranged down the top of the ski as if you’re looking across fields, lakes, and forests seeing all the different activities that would be taking place on a Vermont winter day.
