"For very good reason, many of us refer to the beautiful sands of the gulf coast’s beaches as being 'sugar white.' “This ruddy turnstone appeared, to me, to be marching along the s urf in search of its next meal. With each step, grains of sand flew from its feet, indistinguishable from cane sugar. Of course, as much as we love the sugar-white sands of the gulf, the true star of this moment was the gulf itself.
