This wet-hulled coffee from Aulia Kahfi delivers what Sumatra does best: pungent sweetness, torched sugar notes, and dark cocoa laced with mulling spices like cinnamon and clove. There's an herbal earthiness running through it: tobacco leaf, toasted barley, hints of scorched wood in the finish. It's complex in a completely different direction than our Ethiopian or Honduras offerings. We roast this darker to lean into its strengths. The body becomes thick and satiny, coating your palate with bittersweet 90% cacao bar intensity. It makes exceptional espresso, inky, rich, with chocolate bonbon and brulée crust flavors that hold up beautifully in milk drinks.
