Originally released July 17, 1978 Reissued September 17, 2021 Strut 1xLP A few years before his death Sun Ra was contacted by the Alabama Music Hall of Fame with the offer of being inducted. He declined the offer on the reasonable grounds that he is not from Alabama, but instead is from outer space. After a quick listen to Lanquidity, you can see where he’s coming from. The levels of funk that Sun Ra and his Arkestra lock into on this album is the type of stuff that most artists would have to spend light years flying on the mothership with George Clinton to achieve. For Sun Ra this all came naturally in a way that us earthlings can only try to understand, but ultimately it doesn’t matter if we understand it. All there is for us to do is sit back and enjoy one of outer space's greatest exports at the peak of his powers on this album. Show more
