A joyful reflection of summer, where beauty blooms in the simplest moments and details. Sunflower Field was inspired by a summer visit to a local North Carolina farm with my family. I hold close the memory of my children, then five, three, and sixteen months old, wandering and toddling through rows of sunflowers that towered high above them. We picked flowers, watched butterflies and bees drift from bloom to bloom, and lingered in a moment that felt both ordinary and deeply meaningful. As I painted this piece, I kept returning to the details of that day — the way light rested on the petals and the gentle movement of life all around us. It became a reminder to pause and truly see the beauty that is already present, especially in busy seasons of life. Sunflower Field celebrates warmth, joy, and presence. My hope is that this painting carries that same sense of brightness and wonder wherever it is displayed.
