Organic Black Oil Sunflower Microgreen Seeds Name: Black Oil Sunflower Microgreen Seed Latin Name: Helianthus annuus Description: Black Oil Sunflower microgreens have a nice nutty flavour to them. Be careful not to grow them for too long as they will turn bitter the longer they grow. They grow easily, but removing the seed shells can be a challenge. Seed Origin: Italy Grow Time: 10 - 12 Days Ideal Growing Temperature: 17 °C + Growing Medium: Fine Compost Seeding Rate: 50g to 60g per 10” x 20” Tray Germination Time: 3 - 4 Days Blackout Time: 5 - 6 Days Estimated time to Harvest: 10 - 12 Days How To Grow Black Oil Sunflower Microgreens: Place a tray with holes inside a tray with no holes. Fill the tray with holes with 1 inch of fine compost. Compact the compost. Spread the Sunflower microgreen seeds evenly over the compost, leaving a small bit of space between each seed. Press the seeds into the soil. Water the seeds and soil. Place a tray with no holes on top of the seeds and soil. Add roughly 4kg of weight into the tray, so the seeds are kept pressed into the soil. After 5 - 6 days the Sunflower microgreens will be pushing the weighted tray into the air. Remove the weighted tray, water the microgreens from the top and place them under a grow light, onto a window sill, or into light in a greenhouse. On day 7 - 8, remove the excess seed husks from the leaves. Wetting the husks and leaves beforehand makes the husks softer and easier to remove. When in light, water each day by pouring water into the bottom tray ,until day 10 - 12. Between day 10 - 12, harvest all of the microgreens using a sharp knife or scissors.
