Asheville, North Carolina This photo was captured shortly before sunrise at the Black Balsam Knob summit just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. At over 6,000 feet of elevation, it was a cold but invigorating wait for sunrise. I was mesmerized as the dawn broke and the blazing fire orange color appeared over the horizon. As the dawn progressed, the color intensified long enough for me to capture the remarkable show performed by nature. Show more
