A beautiful original watercolour by Swedish artist Jules Schyl (1900–1959), signed and dated by the artist. It’s presented in a gold frame with a crisp white mount. There’s a small chip to the lower left corner of the frame, along with a few light age-related marks. These are minor and very much in keeping with its years, giving the piece that gentle, time-earned character we love in vintage pieces rather than detracting from it. Born in Copenhagen and trained in both Stockholm and at the Royal Danish Academy, Schyl became an important figure in the development of modern art in Sweden. In the 1920s he co-founded the artists’ group De tolv, helping to shape the rise of modernism. His travels through Paris and Berlin influenced his expressive style, and his work is now held in several major Swedish museum collections. Approx Measurements: Height: 29cm, Width 26cm
