Surf running through the rocks on the Lowcountry coast with the sun down on the horizon.The rocks give this one its footing — dark, barnacled, wet, and arranged so they step back f rom the bottom corner into the middle distance. The exposure was long enough to turn the water moving between them into smooth white bands, which is exactly the opposite of what the rocks are doing. The sun is a low gold disc, and its light comes back at you as a single path across the water.Vertical, warm, and heavy with texture in the foreground. Good over a piece of furniture. Show more
