Model: SUP1005XL Weight: 8.0 lbs. / 3.7kg The BAM Polycarbonate Hightech is a variant of the Compact 3.5, and is designed to fit the instrument as closely as possible, taking off a few ounces in weight. It is therefore one of our lightest BAM cases and is a great option if weight limits are a concern. This case is a full-suspension case, meaning that no part of the cello is in direct contact with the outer shell of the case at any time, and the instrument is held in place with molded foam padding. The case has a triple-ply shell, with an Airex skeleton sandwiched between layers of polycarbonate plastic with an outside layer of a new material which has a textured feel to it. (cosmic black and cosmic white colors are GLOSSY and do not have the textured feel) A special feature of this case is that a new design on the backside gives excellent balance to the case while it is laying flat. It also features two bow holders, anti-slip shoulder straps (this case does not come with wheels), an accessory pocket, and a comfortable handle. The outside is waterproof.Comes in Black or Champagne with either black or silver trim. Interior is black.Also Cosmic Black (gloss finish, changes color from blues to purples to greens... very cool!) Note: Uses D rings and swivel snaps, which occasionally fail. We recommend buying Security Cables just in case. Note that although the density of the "sandwich" structure is increased compared to the BAM 3.5, the thickness is reduced. Although these cases are protective and excellent for daily use, they should not be used for heavy air travel. For air travel we recommend the Bam Flight Case.
