At the beginning of the 20th century, Leon Claeys founded an independent company that would make agricultural machines and then bicycles. By 1927, it had produced 250,000 bicycles. In 1956 a conflict between two Claey brothers led to the factory in Zedelgem being bricked up and divided the factory in two. One brother, Aimé, continued to produce under the name " Flandria ", while the other brother, Remi continued production under the brand name "Superia". Remi built a new factory on his part and named it Superia. Both brothers delivered a competitive battle in the bicycle sector.
