Rock 'N Round Superstar Stonecrop (Sedum hybrid 'Superstar') Rock 'N Round Superstar Stonecrop delivers a clean, compact mound of blue-green to dark turquoise foliage that looks sharp from spring through fall. It stays low and tidy, making it easy to fit into smaller beds without losing visual impact. In late summer, rosy pink flower clusters cover the plant and bring pollinators when the garden needs fresh color most. With sun and well-drained soil, it handles heat and short dry spells well once established. Distinctive Features This stonecrop forms a dense, mounded habit with dark turquoise foliage that can show a soft, hazy gray overlay for a refined, modern look. Rosy pink flower clusters appear in late summer and continue into early fall, creating a bright, rounded display above the foliage. After flowering, the seed heads can add texture and extended interest as the season cools. The compact structure is designed to stay uniform and resist splitting, especially in full sun. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun is best for tight growth, strong color, and abundant flowering. Soil: Well-drained soil is essential, including sandy, gravelly, or rocky sites, and avoid consistently wet conditions. Water: Water to establish, then provide low to moderate water, allowing soil to dry between waterings. USDA Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 3 to 9. Mature Size: Typically grows 10 to 12 inches tall and spreads 16 to 20 inches wide. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Plant a small grouping as a low focal point where the rosy pink blooms can anchor a sunny bed in late summer. Front of Border: Use along the front of sunny borders for compact structure and a clean, finished edge. Mass Planting: Plant in drifts to create a unified mound-and-bloom effect with consistent height and color. Rock and Gravel Gardens: Fit into fast-draining sites where drought-tolerant perennials perform best. Containers: Grow in well-drained containers to bring tidy form and late-season color to patios and entries. Low Maintenance Care Pruning: Leave seed heads for fall and winter texture, then cut back in late winter to early spring before new growth starts. Fertilizing: Avoid heavy feeding, because lean soils help maintain compact growth and sturdy stems. Watering: Once established, water only during extended drought, because frequent irrigation can weaken stonecrop performance. Drainage: Improve heavy soils with grit or raised beds to reduce crown and root issues. Cleanup: Remove any winter-damaged tips in early spring as new growth begins. Why Choose Rock 'N Round Superstar Stonecrop? Compact Habit: Dense, mounded growth stays neat and fits easily into smaller spaces. Late-Season Color: Rosy pink blooms deliver a dependable finish from late summer into early fall. Foliage Interest: Dark turquoise foliage adds cool-toned contrast well before flowering begins. Waterwise Performance: Succulent growth handles heat and short dry spells well once established in well-drained soil. Pollinator Support: Flowers attract bees and butterflies during a valuable late-season window. Rock 'N Round Superstar Stonecrop is an easy way to add tidy structure, cool foliage contrast, and a strong late-season bloom finish to sunny, well-drained landscapes. Pair it with ornamental grasses, asters, or darker foliage plants to make the rosy pink flower heads stand out.
