The drawing of Lost Dutchman State Park, a place made of story and stone, sits at the foot of the Superstitions, a gateway from the Sonoran Desert foothills into true wilderness. T he name comes from the enduring legend of Jacob Waltz, the “Dutchman” who was actually German, and the rumored vein of gold he kept secret to his dying breath.
