This is one of the real classic Maine streamer flies. A great smelt imitator, The Supervisor is aptly named as it is often considered one of the most prestigious Maine streamer fli es. A Warden Supervisor by the name of Joseph S. Stickney, of Saco, Maine, had the idea of the pattern while at Moose Pond in 1925.
