The barrel provides stability on the plateside / loadbearing cushion, while the cone allows more maneuverability on the roadside position. For the SureGrip Classic, or any vintage plate where the kingpin screws directly into the plate to tighten, we recommend sticking with a barrel / barrel set up so that you can use your stock washers.
