This work was inspired by a quiet, reflective moment—watching my boys walk down to the surf during a family holiday in Byron Bay. After browsing through photos from that trip, I wa s drawn to this particular image and felt compelled to explore it artistically. utilising hand-torn paper collage, and a limited palette. I was captivated by the expressive quality of the torn edges of the collage and how the gaps between the pieces actually contributed to the composition. This effect resonated with me so strongly that I took it further, translating the collage into an acrylic painting whilst maintaining the hand torn distinct shapes. The irregular spaces from the original collage became an integral part of the final work, enriching its narrative, embedding it further by evoking the ephemeral, layered nature of memory. Show more
