In Norse mythology, Surtr is a jötunn; he is the greatest of the fire giants and further serves as the guardian of Muspelheim, which is one of the only two realms to exist before t he beginning of time. According to the Prose Edda, Surtr has a flaming sword, and that "at the end of the world he will go and wage war and defeat all the gods and burn the whole world with fire". Technically I suppose I ought to have made Surtr a black colourway given his name, but instead I wanted to play off the fire giant aspect.
