Watercolour, gouache and 24.5 ct white gold leaf on paper This is part of a series of works exploring the locating of neolithic sites in the British Isles near sink holes, also kno wn as dolines or swallet. It is thought the Swallet was seen as a portal to the underworld, making it a sacred location. Stone age ceremonial items have also been found at these locations. The house I was born into in England was located near the ruins of an abbey and a holy well, and was called Swallet House. I find it curious now that I was born into a house named after a portal to the underworld, and my work today centres around caring for the soul through life transitions.
