From a single parcel of sustainably farmed 22 year old vines on the Mullineux's very-own Roundstone Farm, this wine was whole bunch fermented in open top 500L French oak barrels with wild yeast with four weeks of skin contact. After 22 months of maturation, the wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined, and allowed to rest in bottle for an additional 8 months. Chris and Andrea Mullineux established their winery in 2007 in the Swartland region of South Africa, and within a very short time period the winery established itself as one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine brands, with Master of Wine Tim Atkin consistently listing them as one of his South African 'First Growths,' and additionally, in 2016 Andrea was named Wine Enthusiast's Winemaker of the Year. Their goal is to bring about the greatest representation of Swartland terroir possible, using a minimal approach, their wines show precision and purity, particularly their celebrated single-site bottlings: IRON, SCHIST, and GRANITE. 14.0% ABV
