Romanesque is an expressive ballad-like piece, skillfully scored to bring out the beautiful sonorities of the brass ensemble. Ideal for teaching phrasing, tone control, quality of sound, and well suited for contest warm-up. Here it has been transcribed by Japanese composer Akira Toda for traditional British-style brass band. In addition to the parts typically found in these ensembles, transposed parts are provided for suitable performance by instruments of a standard symphonic band.
