Hierochloe odorata. Known for its sweet scent, which gets stronger after a rain or when the grass is burned. Best harvest time is late June to early July. Harvest by cutting the st rands (not pulling on them) and dry the leaves lying flat. Once dry, they can be used for braiding, basketry, smudging, flavouring food and drink, and perfuming closets.
