Swift SC A strobilurin fungicide for the control of foliar diseases in winter wheat and winter and spring barley. RESTRICTIONSAn interval of at least 35 days must elapse between the last application of Swift SC and harvesting the crop.PROTECT FROM FROSTSTORE IN A COOL DRY PLACE DISEASES CONTROLLEDWhen applied as recommended Swift SC controls the following diseases: Winter WheatSeptoria (S. nodorum & S. tritici), Brown rust (moderate control) Winter & Spring BarleyRhynchosporium, Brown rust, Net blotch Swift SC may be used on all commercial varieties of winter wheat and winter and spring barley.Apply Swift SC at 0.5 L/ha in a minimum of 200 L water/ha. Use a MEDIUM spray quality (as defined by BCPC). A spray pressure of 2-3 bar is recommended. Apply a maximum of 2 applications of Swift SC per crop per year.Apply Swift SC protectively, before disease is established in the crop. Further applications may be needed if disease attack is prolonged. RESISTANCETo avoid build-up of resistance do not apply this or any other product containing QoI fungicides more than two times per crop per year.Swift SC contains trifloxystrobin, a member of the Qol cross-resistance group. Swift SC should be used preventatively and not relied on for its curative potential. It should not be used where disease is already established. Use Swift SC as part of an Integrated Crop Management (ICM) strategy incorporating other methods of control, including where appropriate other fungicides with a different mode of action. You must not apply more than two sprays of Qol containing products to any cereal crop.Swift SC must always be used in mixture with another product, containing an active ingredient from a different cross resistance group, that is recommended for control of the same target disease applied at a rate that will give robustcontrol. Where strains of fungi resistant to Qol's occur, Swift SC is likely to be ineffective and should not be used.Strains of barley powdery mildew resistant to Qol's are common in the UK.Limiting the number of sprays is an important factor in delaying the build-up of resistant pathogen populations. There is a significant risk of widespread resistance occurring in Septoria tritici populations in the UK. Failure to follow resistance management action may result in reduced levels of disease control. Appropriate disease risk assessment or decision support systems must beused when deciding whether to treat with Swift SC. The possible development of resistance to Swift SC cannot be predicted. Should it occur Swift SC may not give satisfactory control. MIXING AND SPRAYINGThoroughly shake the pack before use. Add half the volume of clean water to the spray tank. Turn on the agitation and add the recommended quantity of Swift SC. Continue agitation at all times, including topping up the spray tank and during spraying and any stoppages until the spray tank is empty. Wash out all spray equipment thoroughly with water immediately after use. Sprayers should be thoroughly cleaned before use, and filters and jets checked for damage and blockages. Boom height should be adjusted to ensure even coverage of the crop, particularly at later growth stages. The correct height is one at which the spray from alternate nozzles meets just above the crop. In dense crops, at later growth stages, higher water volumes should be used. Rinse container thoroughly, by using an integrated pressure-rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling, and dispose of safely.
