From the Loire Valley, Sylvain Boton’s Printemps is Cabernet Franc at its most joyful: bright, crunchy, and made for drinking rather than pondering. Packed with red cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and a touch of violet, it has all the freshness you want from young Bourgueil, with soft tannins and plenty of lift. There’s a gentle herbal edge and a little peppery spice in the background, but the focus stays firmly on pure, vibrant fruit. Light on its feet and seriously easy to get through, this is the sort of red that works slightly chilled and disappears quickly once opened. Less about power, more about energy. Great with charcuterie, roast chicken, sausage dishes, or a picnic if the weather behaves. Fresh, uncomplicated, and full of charm, exactly what the name “Printemps” suggests.
