A protective film may be installed over the new digitizer for protection during shipping. Minor cosmetic wear may be present on the rear housing or mounting areas due to the screen assembly being refurbished. This does not affect operation. APIM module is not included. Flat Screen vs. Recessed Screen Ford used different 8-inch SYNC 3 screen configurations depending on the vehicle. Please select the correct screen style when ordering: Flat ScreenUsed in many Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with factory 8-inch SYNC 3. Recessed ScreenUsed in certain vehicles where the LCD sits deeper within the mounting assembly. If you're unsure which version your vehicle uses, contact us with your year, make, model, and VIN before ordering. We'll help identify the correct screen. Screen or APIM — Which One Do I Need? The touchscreen and APIM are two separate components. The screen displays the image and detects your touch. The APIM is the computer that actually runs SYNC 3, including Bluetooth, navigation, voice commands, vehicle settings, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Symptoms More Likely Related to the Screen Ghost touchingFlickering or blinkingCracked glassDead touch areasUnresponsive touchscreen with a visible imageDisplay distortion Symptoms That May Be APIM-Related Completely black screenSYNC repeatedly rebootingSystem freezingBluetooth or phone pairing failuresNavigation/software problemsMultiple SYNC functions failing together A black screen can have several possible causes, so we recommend diagnosing the problem before replacing parts. Simple Replacement — No Programming Required If your vehicle is already equipped with a compatible factory SYNC 3 8-inch screen, replacing the display does not normally require APIM programming. Your existing APIM remains in the vehicle. You're simply replacing the touchscreen/display assembly. Remove the existing screen, transfer/reconnect the necessary components, install the replacement screen, and reconnect the factory connections. Important Compatibility Information This product is intended as a replacement screen for compatible Ford and Lincoln vehicles already equipped with an 8-inch SYNC 3 system. It is not a complete SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 upgrade kit and will not convert a factory 4-inch system to an 8-inch SYNC 3 system. If you're upgrading from SYNC 2 or a factory 4-inch display, you will need additional components. Not sure what your vehicle has? Contact All Things Sync before ordering.
