The Police released Synchronicity in June 1983, marking their fifth and final studio album. Despite its more pop-oriented and experimental sound compared to their previous work, the album became their most successful release. It propelled the band to global stardom, thanks to classic hit singles such as "Every Breath You Take," "King of Pain," "Wrapped Around Your Finger," and "Synchronicity II." The album's title and much of its content were inspired by Arthur Koestler's book The Roots of Coincidence. At the 1984 Grammy Awards, Synchronicity received five nominations, including Album of the Year. The 2CD Remastered edition includes the original album on one disc, with a second disc featuring B-sides and bonus tracks. The package comes in a 3-panel 'digi-pak' with a 28-page booklet. The 4LP set features the original album on the first disc, followed by a collection of B-sides and bonus tracks on the second disc. The third and fourth discs contain previously unreleased alternate takes, out-takes, and instrumentals. The 1LP (Picture Disc) version includes a remastered 'Alternate Order' LP with bespoke artwork exclusive to the picture disc, offering a different running order compared to the final released version. The 6CD edition includes the original album, B-sides, bonus tracks, unreleased alternate takes, out-takes, instrumentals, demo recordings, and a live concert recording from the Oakland Coliseum in September 1983. The set also features a 64-page hardback color book with new liner notes, interviews, visual material, rare photos, and art print photographs, all housed in a hardback slipcase. The 2LP Remastered edition contains the original LP on one disc and a second LP with B-sides and bonus tracks on 140 gram colored vinyl, presented in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner bags.
