‘So here, whilst not being vessels or fruit, the shapes are making a noise and want to be heard and seen. These paintings are a nod to the late artist Sonia Delaunay. I found her on a trail of investigation for Art Deco carpet ideas for the block of flats that I live in.‘ A definition of syncopated art: “looks like a visual representation of jazz music or a breaking rhythm, characterized by unexpected, off-beat arrangements of colour, shape, and line that disrupt visual predictability. Instead of a smooth, uniform or symmetrical pattern, syncopated art feels energetic, jarring or “bouncy”, with elements that shift focus away from where the eye typically expects them to land.” Oil on canvas framed with a black tray frame.
