This painting represents all of the circulation coming together in the liver – hepatic artery, hepatic vein, portal vein, and biliary system by their representative colors. It feat ures the hexagons that the vessels running together form. It features the hexagons with in the liver because the functional unit of the liver, the lobules, are arranged in hexagons.
