Transmission Control Module - electronic control unit for the ZF 8HP-family eight-speed automatic transmission. The module governs gear selection and shift scheduling, and controls line pressure and the torque converter lock-up clutch through the solenoid valves in the mechatronic unit. It monitors input and output shaft speeds together with transmission oil temperature, and exchanges torque and driver-demand data with the engine control module over the vehicle CAN network to co-ordinate torque reduction during shifts.
